memory of places

VISIONI ARCHITETTONICHE

Every place holds an identity: my work doesn't represent it, but reinterprets it, giving it new life through light, colour and movement

Visioni Architettoniche grew out of a wish to turn architecture from image into experience. These are paintings of recognisable places built up with a palette knife, where matter has real thickness and light is not painted but reflected.

I grew up along the Silk Road, among architectures where light weaves geometry into matter. Domes, mosaics and richly coloured surfaces shaped the way I see, teaching me to read space as something alive, always in transformation. My father, an architect, taught me to look at space as a structure of relationships, where every element contributes to the balance of the whole.

Today I bring that way of looking to these architectures, which I paint as places to be walked through, not as monuments.

Recognisable forms are gradually transformed through colour, gesture, layering and the use of gold, silver and copper leaf. It is the reflections in the material itself that catch and amplify the light, continually reshaping how the work is perceived.

Colour ignites, architecture seems to move, forms emerge and dissolve between light and shadow. The image is never quite the same twice: it changes with its surroundings, with the time of day, and with the gaze of whoever is looking.

Visioni Architettoniche is a dialogue between memory and interpretation, architecture and movement — a way of giving back the places that go on living inside us, setting them back in motion in whoever looks at them.
